If someone goes from a bad situation to an even worse one, you can say that they "jumped out of the frying pan into the fire." For example, "My old job was difficult, but my new one is much harder. It's like I jumped out of the frying pan into the fire!" 

Too many cooks spoil the broth 
This idiom means that if too many people are involved in a task, then it will likely be done badly. For example, you can probably think of a time when too many people tried to manage a project at work. Sometimes, all you need is one good cook! 

Bite off more than you can chew 
Finally, to "bite off more than you can chew" is to try to do more than you are able to do. For example, "By working three jobs, Jamie is biting off more than he can chew."
